These works are usually performed many times, depending on the facility and stages of design. Geological explorations and laboratory studies are conducted to:

Study the individual features and natural conditions of construction sites, lots or routes in the territory. Comprehensive survey allows obtaining the required data based on which it is possible to forecast the changes in the environment resultant due to the construction and further operation of constructions, facilities and buildings. Geologic works allow performing the study of specific conditions in the construction area of future facility, including the elaboration of advisory forecast and further interaction of facilities and environment; it also helps to justify the additionally required measures on the protection of environment and facilities. Only professional and high-quality surveys allow properly studying the natural conditions of designed construction and avoiding the possibility of disasters and accidents well in advance by taking into account the specific features of the area where construction works are planned to be conducted.
Comprehensive engineering studies include the following:

• IDC – initial data collection for further design and exploration works that allow obtaining all required technical conditions, approval of land, forest and urban planning documentation. This will ensure the possibility to perform cadastral works and registration of rights on land lots;
• Complex of geodetic, geological and hydrometeorological surveys for lines construction, such as mains, including gas and oil pipelines, water pipelines, motor and railway roads, power lines, communication lines, as well as site facilities of civil and industrial construction;
• Geotechnical surveys: testing of soils to determine their standard strength and deformation properties, including surveys of constantly frozen grounds in the given temperature mode conducted in proprietary certified laboratory. The studies are conducted under stationary and field conditions;
• Comprehensive study of climatic, hydrographical and hydrological features of future construction territory; the search of surface sources of water supply and determination of effect of extreme characteristics of hydrographical onshore facilities for designed constructions;
• Electrical exploration works for development of cathodic protection methods for underground utilities, gas and oil mains;
• Forecasting production processes of engineering survey.
